Giant Nernst effect in unconventional density waves
Recently there has been a great surge of interest in unconventional density waves (UDW). Appearance of a kind of UDW, the so called d-density wave has been proposed in the pseudogap phase of high-Tc cuprates, and we have identified the low temperature phase (LTP) of a-(ET)2KHg(SCN) 4 as an unconventional charge density wave. In this talk I review the Nersesyan effect, leading to a natural explanation of the observed angular dependent magnetoresistance and Nernst effect in the LTP of the above mentioned a-(ET)2 salt.
