Welcome to my

Fantasy Art and Literature

page

I have many favourite books, in fact almost all the books I have read is a favourite of mine. It is hard to select among them. Maybe I shall mention the works of Raymond E. Feist: the Riftwar Saga (Magician, Silverthorn, A Darkness at Sethanon), and other works about Midkemia: Prince of Blood, King's Buccaneer. Unfortunately, the books of the Serpentwar Saga hasn't reached me yet. Especially I like the Empire Trilogy: (Daughter of the Empire, Servant of the Empire, Mistress of the Empire) co-authored by Janny Wurst. I have also enjoyed Sierra's game, the Betrayal at Krondor, which is one of the best interactive book I ever seen.
Here you can see the cover of the book Master of the Five Magic by Lyndon Hardy. This picture is the work of Rowena Morril, one of my favourite graphics artists.

He made the covers for some of the books of Terry Brooks. Brooks' Magic Kingdom of Landover novels are: Magic Kingdom for Sale - Sold, The Black Unicorn, Wizard at Large, The Tangle Box.

Some other works of Rowena from the University of Stuttgart:

Anne McCaffrey created the world of Pern with its dragons and fire lizards. I have read the three books of the Harper Hall Trilogy: Dragonsong, Dragonsinger, Dragondrums. The covers were also
made by Rowena. Despite the dragons in them, I'm not sure whether these books are Science-Fiction or Fantasy.

Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman wrote some very famous books. I have read the Dragonlance Trilogy, and some of the Dragonlance Tales, and the Death Gate Cycle. My favourites are the Rose of the Prophet Trilogy: The Will of the Wanderer, The Paladin of the Night and The Prophet of Akhran.

Many illustrations to the Dragonlance and to the Rose of the Prophet were made by Larry Elmore. The works of this fine artist are on many sites. Here are some examples:

Mark Whelan is another very good artist. He illustrated many science-fiction and fantasy works like the Foundation-trilogy by Asimov, the 2010 Second Odyssey by Clarke, or the Assasin. He made many cover illustrations to the books of Anne McCaffrey's Pern series. The picture on the left was made to the Assasin's Apprentice. Some other pictures by Mark Whelan:

Last but not least, here are some of my favourite images from Boris Vallejo:
