Spectroscopic laboratory

Basic and applied research topics:

  • Infrared spectroscopic investigation of the thermal behaviour and absorption of OH- ions incorporated in LiNbO3 crystals with various Li/Nb ratios
  • Investigation of di-, tri- and tetravalent dopant ions incorporated in LiNbO3 crystals
  • Spectroscopic investigation of GdAl3(BO3)4, YAl3(BO3)4 and Li6Y(BO3)3 crystals doped with rare-earth ions
  • Energy transfer between rare-earth ions and cooperative processes in Yb3+-doped LYB crystal
  • Absorption spectroscopic determination of the amount of hydroxyl ion (OH-) impurity significantly modifying quartz tube lifetime

Instrumentation:

  • BRUKER IFS-66v Fourier transform infrared spectrophotometer
  • BRUKER IFS 120 HR FTIR spectrophotometer
  • JASCO V550 UV-visible spectrophotometer
